Feedback from July’s Summer Social Event

“As a relatively new business owner in Todmorden, entering the daunting world of self-employment following redundancy, I’ve found Todconnect to be a great environment to meet other local business owners, from a wide variety of business sectors.

Everyone I’ve met through TodConnect has been very welcoming and happy to share their business experience and offer help, support and guidance.”

Dave Byrne – DAB Cleaning

“Wow, what a great network event – I met so many interesting and inspiring, supportive people in one room! I love my town for this, and the talented people that live and work here. I will definitely be attending the network meetings and socials on a regular basis…

I’m sure if I’m stuck with a problem or need to check out ideas, this will be a great place to get support and encouragement. Thank you for running this group – it’s a great asset, let’s keep it going!”

Charlotte Derry – Playful Places

“Todconnect – does just what it says on the tin, a great way to connect and talk to other businesses and people who want to improve and help Todmorden grow and thrive, and be a great place to live, work and play.”

Andrew Rollins – Place Development Officer CMBC

“From an organisation with little history of involvement in the business community, I found last night very useful and informative. It gave me a chance to talk to people about our sponsorship of the Enterprise Centre and to hear what the needs are for commercial space in Tod. Thanks again for the invite.”

Melvin Coleman – Calder Valley Community Land Trust

2022 Meeting Schedule

We are planning to hold meetings every two months in 2022 but can look to make them more frequent (monthly) if there is the desire and demand to do so.

Provisional future dates for 2022 (all 3rd Wednesdays in the month) are:

16th November
+ Possible Xmas Drinks w/c 12th December

In the meantime you can always get in touch with us by email or through our Facebook Page, we’d love to hear from you at any time.

If you haven’t yet subscribed to receive our monthly Meeting updates then you can do so here

And also, if again you haven’t already done so, you can ‘Like’ our Todconnect Facebook Page to be kept up to date of what’s going on.

Todconnect – May 2022

Our last meeting was scheduled for mid-May but had to be postponed at the last minute until 1st June due to a couple of the speakers coming down with illness

Its postponement from the original date actually helped to increase attendance substantially as we had just 38 people booked for the original date, but this rose to 80 people by the time the door closed on bookings 24 hours before the event.

On the night, just over 50 people attended, which represents a higher number of “no shows” than we anticipated for such an event. However, those that were there definitely made their views heard, which was the opportunity we wanted to provide.

Although business owners will have been disappointed that there was very little specific detail presented on either of the two projects, on the flip side, this did provide some consolation and maybe relief that nothing had been finalised as yet.

Far from it in fact – and they promised further consultation when more detailed plans had been drawn up.

We will keep you informed of any feedback we receive and also of opportunities for further consultation when we become aware of it.

We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting in July but, in the meantime, please do get in touch if there’s anything we may be able to help you with.

Todconnect – March 2022

The first full Todconnect Business Networking Meeting in over 2 years – because of you know what – took place at the Queens Hotel on Wednesday 30th March.

Despite a slightly lower attendance than expected, partially due to further outbreaks of Covid and other illnesses in the town, the meeting was very well received and appreciated by those who were there – and some business owners were still chatting and networking in the bar for over half an hour after the event officially ended!

It was particularly great to see Todmorden Market so well represented as it is a key cornerstone of the town’s businesses – and the community itself.

The meeting included an inspiration update on the Town Deal Board’s £17.5M Investment bid by its Chair, Pam Warhurst.
